ONLY JOY LEFT BEHIND

2024 — 2025

The project is dedicated to old images from advertising and games of the 2000s, burned into childhood memory. Smiling characters from early computer games, yogurt packages, and snack wrappers appear before the viewer in a distorted, almost feverish state — their bright colors have faded, their faces and bodies have warped, time has left its mark.

The fading of old advertisements becomes a metaphor for growing up and the loss of childhood innocence. The artist experiments with wrappers, assembling new characters and repeating familiar images, like a jingle stuck in one’s head. The project is a collage of memory, a mixture of nostalgia for lost images and an underlying sense of unease.

Characters from the 2000s, now long gone, return on large banners. This project is an attempt to reclaim and examine childhood memories in adulthood — to understand what shaped them and to explore the foundations of a new generation’s culture.
